01Before you startПеред установкой

  • Nothing Phone (2), any region.
  • Stock Nothing OS 4.1, best the latest: B4.1-260818-1726. On 3.x, update to 4.1 with the official updates first.
  • An unlocked bootloader. Unlocking erases all data.

NothingExtended (system, system_ext, product, boot with root) and the stock B4.1-260818-1726 vendor side (vendor, odm, vendor_dlkm, vendor_boot, dtbo) it was tested with. The bootloader, modem and other firmware stay as they are on your phone.

02InstallУстановка

  1. Back up your dataСохраните данные

    Unlocking the bootloader and installing from stock erase everything on the phone.

    Разблокировка загрузчика и установка со стока стирают с телефона всё.

  2. Set up the computerПодготовьте компьютер

    Unpack Platform-Tools. Windows: also download and unpack the Google USB Driver. Halfway through, the install restarts the phone into fastbootd, and Windows sees it as another device. If the script hangs at “waiting for any device” while the phone shows fastbootd: Device Manager → the phone (yellow mark) → Update driver → Browse my computer → Let me pick → Have Disk → android_winusb.inf → Android Bootloader Interface. The script then continues by itself. Linux: if fastboot says “no permissions”, install the android-udev-rules package.

Если скрипт завис на «waiting for any device», а на телефоне fastbootd: Диспетчер устройств → телефон (с жёлтым значком) → Обновить драйвер → Найти драйверы на этом компьютере → Выбрать драйвер из списка → Установить с диска → android_winusb.inf → Android Bootloader Interface.   3. Unlock the bootloaderРазблокируйте загрузчик

    Settings → About phone: tap the build number 7 times. In Developer options turn on OEM unlocking and USB debugging, connect the phone and run:

    fastboot flashing unlock

    Confirm on the phone with the volume keys and the power key. The phone erases itself and restarts. Skip if the bootloader is already unlocked.

  4. Download and unpack the packageСкачайте и распакуйте пакет

    Download the install package (on this page) and unpack it. Windows: put the platform-tools folder into the unpacked folder, next to flash-all.bat. Linux / macOS: fastboot has to be in PATH.

  5. Boot the phone into the bootloaderПереведите телефон в bootloader

    With USB debugging on, run the command below. Or power the phone off, then hold Volume Down + Power. Connect it with a USB cable.

  6. Run the installerЗапустите установку

    Open the unpacked folder and double-click flash-all.bat, or run it in a terminal from that folder:Откройте распакованную папку и запустите flash-all.bat двойным щелчком или из терминала в этой папке:

    The script checks the files, the model and the bootloader, shows the slot and asks for YES. Then it installs and erases data, about 5–10 minutes. Do not unplug the cable until it says “Done”.

  7. First bootПервая загрузка

    It takes up to 10 minutes. Then set up the phone as usual.

  8. Root (optional)Root (по желанию)

    Root is already in the firmware. To manage it, install ksunext-manager.apk from the package: open it on the phone, or with USB debugging on:

03UpdatesОбновления

Over the air. Settings → System → System update. New builds download and install in the background into the second slot, then the phone asks to restart. Data and root stay.

По воздуху. Настройки → Система → Обновление системы. Новые сборки скачиваются и ставятся в фоне во второй слот, потом телефон предложит перезагрузиться. Данные и root сохраняются.

From a file. Download the update package (OTA zip) to the phone, then System update → ⋮ → Install from file.

Из файла. Скачайте пакет обновления (OTA zip) на телефон, затем Обновление системы → ⋮ → Установить из файла.

Reinstall keeping data. From the bootloader, with the install package:

After an updateПосле обновления

For a few minutes after the first boot into a new build the phone finishes the update in the background. Do not reinstall with fastboot during that time.

04Known issuesОграничения

  • Features tied to Phone (3) hardware (Glyph Matrix, Flip to Record and the like) are off.
  • Essential Space and Essential Recorder are removed: Phone (2) has no Essential Key.
  • Play Integrity “device” checks fail with an unlocked bootloader.
  • VoLTE and Wi‑Fi calling are not verified on every carrier.
  • On some phones the proximity sensor does not turn the screen off during calls (being looked into).

  • Essential Space и Essential Recorder убраны: у Phone (2) нет кнопки Essential Key.

Never lock the bootloaderНе блокируйте загрузчик

Lock it only on untouched stock firmware. With NothingExtended installed, a locked bootloader will not boot the phone. After going back to stock, first boot into the system and make sure everything works, and only then lock the bootloader.

Блокируйте его только на чистом стоке. С NothingExtended заблокированный загрузчик не загрузит телефон. После отката на сток сначала загрузитесь в систему и убедитесь, что всё работает, и только потом блокируйте загрузчик.

Flash the full official Nothing OS 4.1 firmware with fastboot. The stock firmware is in the spike0en/nothing_archive archive on GitHub. Going back erases all data.

First: the critical partitionsСначала: критические разделы

The firmware rewrites the bootloader too, so first unlock the critical partitions: boot the phone into the bootloader, run the command below and confirm on the phone. It erases the data, which going back does anyway. Without it the bootloader and the firmware are not written, and the phone may not boot.

Прошивка переписывает и загрузчик, поэтому сначала разблокируйте критические разделы: переведите телефон в bootloader, выполните команду ниже и подтвердите на телефоне. Данные она сотрёт, но при откате они стираются всё равно. Без этого загрузчик и прошивки не запишутся, и телефон может не загрузиться.

fastboot flashing unlock_critical

Skip it if it is done already: fastboot oem device-info shows Device critical unlocked: true.

Если уже сделано, пропустите: fastboot oem device-info показывает Device critical unlocked: true.
